Established in 1859, Oakwood Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Syracuse. Covering 160 acres of land, it was designed by Howard Daniels.**
A peaceful cemetery with some remarkable headstones and tombs, but amidst the tranquility lies another side.
There are reports of murder and other grisly tales—a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories.
We have visited Oakwood Cemetery during the day and at night, and every time we have caught something using a spirit box.
Last week, we went back again. This time, we wanted to try something new. Could we capture images, not just voices?
The whole point of investigating the paranormal is to find answers to phenomena that don’t yet have an explanation—or at least not one we understand.
We wanted to test something new out in the field. We’ve used this technique indoors before with some intriguing results.
We haven’t gone through all the footage yet, but we wanted to share what we believe are the most interesting captures so far:

Both images were captured in front of a small tomb's entrance.
The app we used splits the video feed into two frames. The right side shows the video as the camera would typically capture it, while the left side displays the same image but with slight alterations—captured at a different frame rate. That’s the best way we can describe it.
Maybe we should invite the app’s creator onto a podcast to explain how this works. The goal is to rule out pareidolia, though many people will still believe that’s what we’re seeing—and that’s fine. Both skeptics and believers are welcome.
In the next few days, we’ll edit and put together a video of our investigation.
Let us know what you think!
